Defending Democracy -- Showing Up For Community
Please join INDIVISIBLE CENTRAL MICHIGAN for a viewing of the documentary film “Did You Guys Eat?/¿Ya comieron? Stories of Michigan Agriculture” and a discussion of the challenges that face small farms and migrant farmworkers in Michigan. This event is free.
THURSDAY, APRIL 23, 2026 • 6 to 8 p.m.
Isabella County Commission on Aging • 2200 South Lincoln Road • Mt. Pleasant

Following the film, Jesse Costilla, Migrant Program Director at Great Lakes Bay Health Centers, will share the challenges of ensuring that farmworkers have access to preventative healthcare. Also providing context to the discussion will be the film’s director / producer, Stephany Slaughter, Professor of World Languages and Culture at Alma College. Slaughter is a member of the Mid-Michigan Migrant Resource Council and has extensive experience working with the migrant community.
This documentary and discussion follow the rhythm of the growing season, focusing on the individuals whose labor brings food to our tables: small family farmers, organic growers, and the often-overlooked seasonal migrant workers. “Did You GuysEat?/¿Ya comieron?”goes beyond the fields to also highlight the support network caring for the well-being of those who help us eat. It is not just about farming — it’s about the people, their stories, and the invisible systems that bring every meal to our tables.
Indivisible Central Michigan (ICM) is a passionate collective of individuals who care deeply for our democracy and upholding the Constitution. We are committed to standing as a community against discrimination, oligarchy rule, and unconstitutional acts. As a registered chapter of the national organization Indivisible.org, ICM leverages a vast network of local "Indivisible" groups to drive change. If you are concerned about the direction of our country and want to be a part of a group of like-minded people, join us in our mission to make a difference!
